Offline Captioning are captions that are pre-produced for pre-recorded television shows or films for the hearing impaired. Offline captions are also a valuable tool for people learning to speak a new language - this is why captioning accuracy is so important.

Closed Captioning is more labour intensive, as the writers strive for caption accuracy and must research all unfamiliar terms or phrases. Depending on how much dialogue and unfamiliar terminology are in the file, closed captioning can take from 6-12 hours for just one half hour show. Scripts are incredibly helpful for the spelling of names and terminology and assist closed captioning writers while they work on your project. GigEcast creates accurate and comprehensive closed captions so that all viewers are able to enjoy your programming.
Captioning Offline Pop-on Captions

Pop-On Captions are phrases that “pop-on” the screen for a couple seconds, disappear and another caption “pops-on” the screen to replace it. These captions are timed to synchronize with the speaker, and include name tags to help identify who the speaker is. This type of captioning is more labour intensive because it takes more time to format. Pop-On captioning is also much easier for a viewer to understand, especially when there are multiple characters on the screen.
Captioning Offline Roll-up Captions

Roll-up captions appear just as they sound. They start at the bottom of the screen and roll up 2 lines at a time. When a new sentence appears from the bottom it pushes the other lines up. This type of captioning doesn't include name tags to identify the speaker like pop-up captions. Instead, roll-up captions use chevrons ( >> ) to indicate a new speaker.
Offline Web Captioning

Producing closed captioning for web files is called e-captioning. With an ever increasing population accessing video files on internet sites such as YouTube, it's no wonder that the United States has passed a law requiring that all TV shows broadcasted online, and all devices capable of displaying video, must be able to display closed captioning. Reach a broader audience and e-caption your video with GigEcast.
